Sickness absence medicals
We offer a timely ad hoc service for those wishing to refer an employee on sickness leave for assessment.
One of our experienced physicians will conduct an assessment in a relaxed environment in our offices in Caerleon.
We aim to ascertain the likely duration of the sickness leave and their capability for the job.
We offer advice on a return to work programme and general medical advice regarding their illness.
We also liase with their NHS GP if further information is required.
Ill health retirement
The assessment for those applying for ill health retirement will vary from case to case. It is usual to ascertain the capability of the individual and the requirements of the job before coming to a conclusion on their suitability for ill health retirement based on a history, examination and in most cases, evidence from their GP or specialist. Prior to an ill health retirement assessment the employer should have made all reasonable adjustments to accommodate the employees illness or disability.
Health surveillance is a statuary requirement for employees who are exposed to substances that could be hazardous to their health.
We carry out targeted surveillance according to the needs of the company.
Our nurse conducts hearing, skin and breathing checks.
These results are reviewed by a doctor in a timely fashion and abnormal results are handled quickly and effectively.
Our doctors conduct night shift work medical examinations when required.
We undertake medicals for fork lift drivers, coach and lorry drivers and advise on DVLA guidance following accident, injury or ill health. We also conduct HGV /LGV and taxi medicals.

- Blood pressure measurement
This is designed as an MOT for your body and mind. Our doctor will undertake a full medical history and examination concentrating on any concerns you may have. During your time with us our trained health care assistant will conduct a tracing of the heart (ECG) hearing, breathing, urine and eye tests if required. The results of these will be discussed with you during the consultation with the doctor. If blood tests are required the results will be included in a detailed report which will be sent out to you within a week of your medical. You will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your health with the doctor.
